In addition to flight duty, all of our Paramedics also staff DART, the ALS Assist Ground unit. DART stands for Disaster Assistance Response Team. Our medics are some of the most experienced in the area.  National Registry is required, and many have also obtained certification as a Critical Care Paramedic ( CCEMTP), or Flight Paramedic-Certified ( FP-C).

Our Paramedics are also certified in ACLS, BCLS, PHTLS, NALS, NRP, and ABLS

Vince Alianiello, NREMT-P

Vince started as a DART Paramedic in 1984, and began flying with MedStar in 2002. He is Nationally Registered, and holds numerous EMS certifications. Vince also earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown. He enjoys motorcycle and ATV riding.

Gene Brewer, NREMT-P

Gene has been in EMS for over 29 years.  He has been a Paramedic since 1983, and worked full time in the City of Philadelphia. Gene returned to the area in August of 1990 and began his career at Conemaugh as a DART Paramedic.  He began flying in 1996. Gene is married, with two children, both Nurses.

Brian Glover, NREMT-P

Brian has been a Paramedic since 1989, and has been with Conemaugh since 1991, He currently resides in Meyersdale.

Tracy Stiffler, NREMT-P

Tracy has been a Paramedic for over 19 years, with over 10 years flight experience. She is married, with 3 children. Tracy owns and operates a large horse boarding stable, and beef cattle farm.

Kevin Stiffler, NREMT-P

Kevin began working at Conemaugh in March 1994 as a DART Paramedic,  and started flying in October of 1996. He is the Chief of Fairfield Twp.VFC#1  www.fairfieldtwpfire.com. Kevin and his wife, Amy have a Son, Alec. His hobbies are Farming, Camping, Archery Hunting, 4wheeling.

Dave Thomas, NREMT-P, CCEMTP

Dave started his career in EMS in 1995 and became a paramedic 1997. He started as a DART Paramedic at MMC in 2001. Dave is Nationally Registered and proudly hold specialty certifications in Critical Care Transport; CCEMTP, and Fundamental Critical Care; FCCS. He is married to Abigail who is also employed at MMC as a Critical Care Nurse in the ICU. Dave is actively preparing to achieve the Flight Paramedic Certification FP-C.

Matt MacGregor, NREMT-P

Matt and his wife, Shelly, reside in Schellsburg, Pa.  Matt has been a paramedic since 1994 and is presently the manager for Bedford Area Ambulance Service.  Matt is also a paramedic for Seventh Ward EMS located in Johnstown.  Matt also volunteers for the Shawnee Valley VFC, which he joined in 1991 and serves as a paramedic/engineer.  He has also held positions of Assistant Chief, Captain, and Secretary.  Matt and Shelly are expecting the birth of their first child in November of 2009

Dale Makin, EMT-P

Dale has extensive EMS experience, working in Altoona and Johnstown. Currently, he lives in Ebensburg, and is an active   Member with the Dauntless Fire Department. Dale has extensive Firefighting credentials, and EMS Certifications.

Jean Kinley, EMT-P

Jean has over 30 years of EMS experience. She is active locally with the Portage Area Ambulance Association.

Charity Matula, EMT-P

Charity works full time in Altoona with AMED. She currently is casual with the DART Team

Bob Richards, EMT-P

Bob was a paramedic with the Lee Hospital ALS Paramedic Unit. He joined the DART Team , when Lee was acquired by Conemaugh Health Systems.

DART Medics

In addition to assisting local ALS and BLS EMS agencies, the DART paramedic also plays an important role in the referral of patients into Conemaugh. These paramedics coordinate transfer of critically ill or injured patients, directly with referring and receiving physicians, and nursing units at Conemaugh.  Most DART medics eventually rotate into flight positions, as they become available. Flight Medics not only staff the Medstar helicopter, but the DART ALS unit as well
